How do I know if I need Counselling?
You might be considering counselling as a result of trauma, crisis, bereavement or an adverse life event. Even positive events can sometimes lead to feelings of anxiety, stress and overwhelm e.g. promotion at work, moving house, new baby. Perhaps you have noticed patterns of behaviour that you wish to change or there are personal issues you wish to process.
How might I benefit from Counselling?
These are some of the benefits that other people say they have received:
- Obtaining greater insight and understanding of themselves
- Processing things that have happened in the past and using the perspectives gained to make changes
- Getting a set of tools which they can use for coping with life’s challenges
- Improved sleep, confidence and resilience
- Increased self-esteem and self-acceptance.
What is required from me?
Counselling works best if you are honest and open about your feelings and emotions and the issues that have caused you to seek counselling.
You will need a quiet and private space from which to have your online or telephone counselling sessions.
How long is a counselling session?
50 minutes
How long will I need counselling for?
This will depend on your needs and the issues that you are bringing to counselling and is something that we discuss in advance. I offer both short and long term therapy.
What will happen at the first session?
I offer a 15 minute initial consultation so that we can see if we would be comfortable working together. If after this we were both happy to proceed, an appointment would be made for your first full counselling session.
This first full counselling session involves an assessment during which I will ask you to give me some background details and will ask questions which will help me to ensure that I can focus on your needs.
